Abuja Disco fined N300m by NERC over Electrocution

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has slammed a N300m fine on the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company over cases of electrocution as well as infractions and violations in the franchise areas of the Disco.
In its order with reference number NERC/GL/169, the commission outlined several infractions and violations of its safety laws by the AEDC between 2018 and 2019.
The commission said its Accident Investigation Team conducted several investigations and concluded that the Disco violated many safety laws, a development that led to the deaths of victims.
The NERC order revealed that during the period in focus, there were nine cases of electrocution in various areas under the franchise region of the Disco, adding that some victims also suffered electrical burns during the period.
