Ahead of November 16 governorship election in Kogi state, about 20 governorship aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly rejected the indirect mode of primary election.
The indirect mode was recently approved for the state by the national secretariat of the party.
The aspirants include Alhaji Yusuf Haruna, a former Aide de Camp of the APC national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
They argued that the indirect primary would deny them a level playing ground. They claimed that with the indirect primary, the party was setting booby traps for itself.
The aspirants also added that as loyal party members, they will not fold their arms and allow the party to suffer huge political loss arising from the narrow ambition of a “non-performing governor”.
Meanwhile, Insightscoop reported that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC declared its support for Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi on indirect primaries for the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
